MIDDLE BAY COUNTY CLUB Middle Bay Country Club promises golfers a memorable experience! From the first tee to the eighteenth green, its superbly manicured course on the picturesque South Shore of Long Island presents a challenge to the accomplished player, yet Middle Bay remains a very player-friendly course for all golfers. Built in 1955 by golf course architect, Alfred Tull, Middle Bay was improved over the years with strategically placed mounds, links style waste bunkers, and numerous green side sand traps. The contoured, undulating greens are small but fair. However, the unseen hazard is the regular, multi-directional sea breeze that changes the course's personality with each round. The signature hole is the beautiful 8th hole, a short par four that curves left around the bay that gives the course its name. The left side of the fairway is flanked by a long waste bunker at waters edge, while the right side is lined with mounds and bunkers. The putting green is closely guarded by five additional bunkers two long sand traps across the front and three smaller ones at the sides. Middle Bay Golf Course is 6821 yds. from the back tees with a 134 slope as rated by the National Professional Golf Association. The middle tees are 6505 yds. with a 131 slope and the forward tees 5489 yds. with a 123 slope. Water comes into play on 8 holes. Bay winds come into play on 6 perimeter holes, and influence all the holes. The challenge at Middle Bay is simply to drive straight, adjust for the wind, pitch close, avoid hazards, chip and putt with extreme skill and accuracy. Who can't do that?
