Support Groups and Screenings
Arthritis Support Group
The Arthritis Support Group meets the third
Tuesday of every month at 2:00PM in the Goldstein Auditorium at Long Beach
Medical Center to provide support to arthritis sufferers. Topics
include pain management, exercise, coping skills, nutrition and self-help
tips. The group does not meet during the months of January and

Breast Cancer Support Group
Group discussions run by a registered
nurse. Quarterly series of weekly meetings on Tuesdays at 7:30PM in
the Day Room at the Komanoff Center. Call (516) 897-1504 for more

Bereavement Support Group
The Bereavement Support group meets every
Thursday from 2:30 to 3:30PM in Conference Room C at Long Beach Medical
Center. The group offers assistance to individuals dealing with the
death of a family member or loved one. All sessions are led by a
mental health professional. For more information, contact The

Diabetes Club
The Diabetes Club meets the third Monday of every
month at 7:30PM in the Goldstein Auditorium at Long Beach Medical Center
to provide support to diabetics. Topics include nutritional
management, medications, eye and foot care, exercise and more. Call

Lamaze Childbirth Preparation
Classes
Topics include
relaxation techniques and what to expect during labor and delivery.
Classes are offered on five consecutive Monday evenings (7:30 – 9:30
p.m.) or on Saturday and Sunday (10:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.). Fee is $100
per couple, $50 for Medicaid members. Women should be in their 32nd week
of pregnancy when taking the class. For specific dates and

Weekly Depression Screening
Long Beach Medical Center's Counseling Center
offers a free, weekly walk-in screening for persons experiencing
depression. The screenings are held on Wednesdays from 2:00 to
3:00PM and include an interview with a mental health professional.
